I don't know if shame is the right word here, but yeah, more people should definitely take the time to stop and think how their words and actions can affect others. The problem is most of this happens online through social media where they have the luxury of hiding behind a screen, so they never get to see any consequences firsthand. But even then, I don't know why it's so hard to still be decent and engage in thoughtful, mature conversation, even with people you disagree with. In fact, I've found the quickest way to get people to shut up is to remain calm and ask them to explain themselves. They just throw out a buzzword like "hater" and move on.

This. I see it here and all over Facebook as well and it actually saddens me that this is what society has come to. I cant tell if its people have heightened sensitivity which sends them to MAX RAGE LIMIT BREAK over anything and everything, or if modern society just is incapable of expressing themselves using eloquent language and instead resorts to crude word choices. Shrug.

My read is it is more that the Cobra Kai way of karate is corrupt but the Miyagi-do way of karate builds strong roots and good people. There arent good or bad kids, there is good or bad karate.

both johnny and daniel are a bit blind to it all, though johnny may be starting to get it. But early he could only see the benefit Cobra Kai brought him, later on he can start seeing the damage it does.

neither johnny or daniel were the good guy or bad guy in karate kid. mr. miyagi was teh good guy, cobra kai instructor was the bad guy.

tl;dr no bad student, just bad teacher.

but i think cobra kai (the show) is all around showing it's not so binary and there's a lot of grey in terms of good vs bad.

normally you want to cheer the underdog, but what if they become the "bad" guy... at what point do they cross over? is there a clear line? etc..

I really, REALLY loved the show, but I was expecting it to be terrible, and you were expecting it to be perfection thanks to the high praise it got from the other people that thought it was going to be bad

But honest, if you think it's horrible, then stop watching it. I think it's one of the best series going on right now

Yeah. I think I went in with low expectations and wasnt even going to watch it until someone posted here encouraging me to watch it.

maybe it is different for me since I live in Australia but they usually come to your home next business day when theres an issue and can do repairs on the spot. MSI here however has the more traditional RMA service process of send it back and expect a response in 2 weeks and a repair or replacement in 4-8 weeks.

It's a valid point. I think that's why next generation if I still have time to play games, I'll stick to the combo of PC and whatever Nintendo has. PS4 Pro/Xbox One X is much the muchness and nothing great other than being able to sit on the couch and game.. which doesn't happen so much now that I'm not allowed to have the TV on when the baby is awake :(

AFAIK Dell has significantly better post-sales support and to me that's what kept me in the Dell/Alienware family for so long.

I haven't touched either of those laptops IRL but I'd also caution the build quality/etc... I've found MSI laptops in the past to not feel as robust as the Dell laptops but it might just depend on model/range. The MSI laptops usually have better specs and look better for the same money though.

... but now I have a Razer and I felt compelled to buy extended warranty from the retailer.

Felt like sharing this since the Australian Tax Office sends out this nice little summary each year with what your tax dollars got spent on with numbers based on your own personal income tax amount.

It's interesting to see that despite what people think, the biggest individual category is actually healthcare (thank you Medicare/public hospitals?) and whilst everyone loves to target welfare/transfer payments, the unemployment component is relatively small compared to the aged care component which I presume includes both retirement homes and old age pensions.

Note: I have blurred out the last two digits of each number but at least it gives you an indicator of ratio. And before anyone asks, the total is tax assessed based on your net income (i.e. global income less any deductions you've claimed).

If it was auto flagged then your supervisor or line manager probably wouldve been informed. Being a financial institution, usually they have great monitoring controls but then on the other hand, 200 employees is very small.

To me, this is one of those things which wont get you fired on the spot but they save up for when they need to get rid of you.

In the past the price of the game covered server costs. Nowadays they only want to nickle and dime you and you just accept that.

The reality is that business model of trying to build all the costs into a single one-off upfront payment doesn't last. It creates the wrong incentive structure and focuses too heavily on the short term with no real incentive to maintain the long term. Shareholders tend to hate this model as well since it just means you need to use future sales from new products to cover the costs of supporting earlier sales. (for those technical accountants out there, yes I'm aware of disaggregating components of revenue to match future costs but it's still not popular to have no ongoing revenue stream but ongoing costs)

Xbox is ok.

Original Xbox is great and very underrated.

360 is ok although probably my least favorite console that generation and it started the paid online bullshit.

Xbox One I mostly hate although the power of the Xbox One X is nice although at that point just buy a PC

I thought 360 was my favourite as it was when I could start buying "arcade" and old games online, and my first exposure to HD gaming.

Xbox One was good initially but I think as people started to see the weakness vs PS4, it faded out.. I regret buying an Xbox One X as well afterwards now that I realise all the good stuff is available on my PC anyway (eg Forza), and whilst there may be some performance supremacy over PS4 Pro, it's not as jarring as the original PS4 vs Xbox One differences.

I wasn't specifically talking about game pass at all. I'm talking about them standardizing paying extra money to play online. That is worst thing that the Xbox brand has standardized to me

But they also brought some degree of quality of service to online gaming for consoles. Realistically it's unsustainable to offer an ongoing service without some kind of matching revenue stream otherwise there is less incentive to actually maintain it once the customer has paid the upfront amount which is maximum they are going to pay.
